As the holidays approach, a season of cooking-baking is upon us.
And, to get us started, Barb Averett of Amelia, Ohio sent us this delicious family recipe.
Barb and her six siblings grew up in the 1950s. “There was always a lot of baking going on at our house to keep both lunch boxes and hungry children full,” she said. “Everything was always baked from scratch … nothing store bought for us.”
Around Christmas, her mother made Mint Surprise Cookies — a simple vanilla cookie wrapped around dark chocolate wafers.
Over the years, finding the wafers in stores, she said, has proven more difficult.
Last week, a quick internet search helped her find Wolfgang Candy.
She ordered her fill of our Dark Chocolate Mints and plans to continue her mother’s cookie tradition for the special people in her life.
“I could not be more delighted that I have found your dark chocolate mint wafers,” she said. “I hope you will share my recipe.”
And, through December 2013, our Dark Chocolate Mint wafers are BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE through our online store.
