Wolfgang President Andy Jacobs talks with a customer about Wolfgang NATURALS at the 16th Annual Sweets & Snacks Expo in Chicago.
From new premium products to a new website, it has been a year of reinvention for Wolfgang Candy. And last week, we did a little showing off at the 16th annual Sweets & Snacks Expo in Chicago, which ran from May 21-23.
The event features more than 570 exhibiting companies and draws more than 15,000 professionals, including key buyers in confectionery, cookie and snack industries. The show was Wolfgang’s most successful yet, garnering positive feedback from retailers and our sales broker team network.
Here are the highlights:
- This year, Wolfgang debuted a new booth with new booth graphics showcasing our recently launched Wolfgang NATURALS and Farmer’s Fair lines.
- As samples, we distributed individually wrapped Belgian chocolates from from our NATURALS line, which features 100 percent all-natural ingredients. They were popular — so popular, in fact, that we ran out by Wednesday and had to open bags intended only for display.
- In total, we handed out 3,000 NATURALS samples. Do the math. NATURALS come in bags of 10. That’s the equivalent of 300 bags distributed among attendees, including store owners and buyers from all classes of trade.
- To kick off our new Wolfgang NATURALS line, we held a beer and chocolate tasting featuring limited-edition Wolfgang Belgian Chocolate Ale co-created by Wolfgang CEO Benjamin McGlaughlin and Mudhook Brewing Company in York, Pa. The ale is infused with the same cacao nibs used to make our chocolate. The keg was finished in an hour and a half.
- With help from a celebrity guest we launched our Farmer’s Fair line, which includes milk and dark chocolate pretzels, milk chocolate animal crackers and milk chocolate mini graham crackers packed in unique brown craft-style reusable bags.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by Booth #1759. We’ll see you next year.
Wolfgang Belgian Chocolate Ale is a black ale with mild sweetness offset by a firm dose of earthy hops. The beer has an ABV (alcohol by volume) of 5.5 percent.
