These Chocolate Doughnuts make a great breakfast treat!
2/3 Cup Sugar
3 Tablespoons Butter
1 Egg
1/2 Cup Wolfgang Cocoa (or Baking Cocoa)
2 1/2 Cups Flour
1 Tablespoon Baking soda
1 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Teaspoon Nutmeg
2/3 Cup Milk
Confectioners’ Sugar
In a large bowl, cream sugar, butter and egg. in a seperate bowl, combine cocoa, flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Alternately, add dry mixture and milk to the butter/sugar combination. Roll out dough on lightly floured board/pan to 1/2-inch thickness (adding flour as necessary). Cut with floured cutter. Fry in deep fryer at 365 deg for two to three minutes, turning once. Drain on paper towel. Cool. Sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar if desired. Yield: two dozen amazing doughnuts!
