Wolfgang Candy Company Tour Earns National Acclaim
Named One of Top 10 Best Factory Tours in U.S.
York, PA (May 26, 2010) - Wolfgang Candy Companys free factory tour is one of the nations Top Ten Best (and Sweetest) Factory Tours, according to the popular online travel site, familyvacationcritic.com.
Familyvacationcritic.com, online travel specialists part of The Independent Traveler Inc., named the Wolfgang Candy Company tour, along with nine others from California to Vermont, as favorite destinations for families. See the list at http://www.familyvacationcritic.com/10-best-%28and-sweetest%21%29-factory-tours/art/.
Kids will love visits to factories producing some of the countrys best sweets, the sites review states. Wolfgang Candy Company is among the Top Ten Best tours including Jelly Belly, Ben & Jerrys, and Hersheys Chocolate World.
One of the oldest family-owned and managed confectionary manufacturers in the U.S., Wolfgang Candy Company in York, PA, invites visitors to tour its actual working production facility a complex of three buildings including the familys original home where its founders made chocolates by hand in a basement kitchen.
Its an amazing achievement for a regional, family-owned company, says Anne Druck, director of the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau. Their tour is in a league with large companies with well-known brands that are sold worldwide.
The Wolfgang Candy Company tour is so appealing and unique, according to Druck, because they offer an authentic experience. You actually walk along the production line, seeing real product being made by the candy makers and chocolatiers. Wolfgang Candys tour is the real deal.
The 45-minute free guided tour gets visitors up close and personal with the candy-making process, so Wolfgang Candy tour manager Amy Kelley advises visitors to check out the dress requirements on the Wolfgang Website at www.wolfgangcandy.com/factory-tours.asp.
Because ours is not a simulation but a tour within an actual working factory, there are Food and Drug Administration health and safety regulations, Kelley explains. This means visitors don company-supplied hairnets, and must wear close-toed shoes and remove jewelry.
Its a fun, full sensory experience to visit Wolfgang Candy Company. You get to see, hear and smell the candy and chocolates being made, Kelley says. And at the end, you get to taste our confections. Everyone gets a treat bag with three pieces of our most popular products.
Visitors can top off their tour with a stop at the gift shop and Wolfgangs Das Sweeten Haus, which features an authentic old-fashioned soda fountain serving ice cream, soda and milkshakes.
Wolfgang Candy Company, located at 50 East 4th Avenue, York, Pennsylvania, welcomes visitors for tours Monday through Thursday. Tours are held at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
