Robert L. Wolfgang III
Managing Partner - Food Safety & Quality
Robert Wolfgang III, grandson of D.E. Wolfgang Candy Company Co-founder Robert L. Wolfgang, brings to the company a comprehensive, first-hand knowledge of the confectionery trade, along with a proven operational background. Having grown up working in the family business, Rob mastered the techniques of candy making and gained a comprehensive understanding of the industry from the first and second-generation family members. Rob began his professional career as production supervisor at Wolfgang Candy Company in 1992, advancing to distributor accounts manager in 1999 and finally to vice president of operations in 2001. A lifetime native of York County, Rob holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Lebanon Valley College.

Mike Schmid, MBA
Managing Partner & CMO
Michael (Mike) Schmid, grandson of D.E. Wolfgang Candy Company Co-founder Ruby Schmid, is an educated and experienced business professional with a proven track record. He brings to Wolfgangs extensive experience in business-line and brand management, strategic planning and marketing. Prior to his post at Wolfgang, Mike served as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy in both active duty and reserve capacities. Following the Navy, Mike managed two lines of business for Leitch Technology Corporation, a manufacturer and worldwide distributor of professional broadcast equipment. Mike earned a bachelor’s degree in German language with a minor in naval science and a master’s degree in business administration from Old Dominion University in Virginia. Mike serves on the boards of the York County Convention & Visitors Bureau, the North Museum of Natural History and Science, and the Boy Scouts of America - Distinguished Citizen of Lancaster County Initiative. He is active in and serves on several trade committees, including the Marketing Committee for the National Confectioners Association, the Pennsylvania Food Marketing Cooperative, and the Central Pennsylvania Food Manufacturers’ Consortium. Mike is a former president of the Hampton Roads chapter of the American Marketing Association, and served on the board of directors of the Old Dominion University Alumni Association.

Steve Schmid
Managing Partner, Sales
Steve Schmid, grandson of D.E. Wolfgang Candy Company Co-founder Ruby Schmid, is a results-oriented, bottom line-driven professional with extensive experience in generating and qualifying leads, negotiating with high-level decision makers and producing revenue. After gaining exceptional customer services skills through his first post-college position with JP Morgan Services Inc., Steve pursued a successful sales career with DecisionOne Inc, where he sold technology support solutions and services to the commercial and government sectors. In October 2002, Steve joined Wolfgang Candy Company as a fundraising sales representative. Steve holds a bachelor’s in business administration with a major in marketing from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.

Benjamin A. McGlaughlin
President & CEO
Mr. McGlaughlin is the great grandson of Delphi and Mima Mae Wolfgang— Wolfgang Candy founders, and grandson to Glenn Wolfgang. Mr. McGlaughlin learned about the confectionery business since childhood, having worked at the family factory throughout his childhood years. Mr. McGlaughlin returned to the Wolfgang Candy Company in 2003 to oversee Finance, Human Resources & Risk Management as Managing Partner, Finance & Administration until his recent selection as President & CEO
Mr. McGlaughlin earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science from West Chester University, managed Assets Protection for Philadelphia retailer Strawbridge & Clothier, and participated in the company’s Executive Development Program in preparation for the role of store manager. Mr. McGlaughlin’s career path next led him to management positions in two major Philadelphia hospitals, Pennsylvania Hospital and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. His diverse training and experience in management, organizational and leadership development prepared Mr. McGlaughlin for his role of providing both visionary and financial leadership to Wolfgang Candy Company.

Benjamin is a member of several confectionery and snack food industry groups and is on the Board of Directors for Better York. He holds a certified facilitator designation for Franklin-Covey’s program, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People®.

Brad A. McGlaughlin
Managing Partner

A grandson of DE Wolfgang Candy Company Co-founder Glenn Wolfgang, Brad joined the management team of Wolfgang Candy in October of 2003. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree from Messiah College (PA) in 1991, Brad spent two years working in the kitchen at Wolfgang Candy learning the art of candy making from Senior Partners’ Dennis McGlaughlin and Bill Schmid. In 1993 Brad followed his dream of playing professional soccer and joined the Charlotte Eagles (NC), a division of Missionary Athletes International. Brad played professional soccer for 8 seasons and captained the Charlotte Eagles team for five seasons including the 2000 Division 3 national championship. During his years with the Charlotte Eagles Brad directed both their local programs department and most recently their summer soccer camp programs.
